How to Find Your Send to Kindle Email Address
To email a document to your Kindle you need its Send to Kindle address. It ends in @kindle.com, it is different for each of your devices and apps, and it is not the email address you use to sign in to Amazon. Most people have never seen it, which is why it is the step where setting up Send to Kindle usually stalls.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Sign in to Amazon and open Manage Your Content and Devices
Use a browser, ideally on a computer where the page is easier to navigate, and open Manage Your Content and Devices from your account menu.
Step 2: Open Preferences and expand Personal Document Settings
The Preferences tab has a section called Personal Document Settings. Expand it to see your Send to Kindle email settings.
Step 3: Copy the address next to your device
Each registered Kindle and Kindle app is listed with its own address ending in @kindle.com. Copy the one for the device you want documents to arrive on.
Step 4: Approve the address you will send from
On the same page, add your own email address to the Approved Personal Document Email List. Without this step Amazon rejects what you send.
Pro Tips
- 💡 The address ends in @kindle.com and is not your Amazon login email
- 💡 Each device and app has a different address, so pick the right one
- 💡 You can also find the address in your Kindle's settings, in the account section
- 💡 The same page lets you edit the address to something easier to remember
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my Kindle email the same as my Amazon email?
No. It is a separate address ending in @kindle.com that Amazon creates for each Kindle and Kindle app on your account.
Do I have a different address for each Kindle?
Yes. Every registered device and app is listed with its own address under Personal Document Settings.
I sent a document to my Kindle address and nothing arrived. Why?
The usual cause is that the sending address is not on your Approved Personal Document Email List. Amazon allows up to 15 approved addresses. Add yours and send the document again.
What can I do with the address once I have it?
Email documents to it, or connect it to a delivery service. If the documents you are sending are email newsletters, InboxToKindle removes most of this work: you approve one sender once, and every newsletter you subscribe to is converted to EPUB, stripped of tracking pixels and delivered for you. The free plan includes 3 deliveries a month and Pro is unlimited for $10 a month.
